Description
Mac Pro 8 core 2.8GHz, 10GB mem, Apple RAID, 3TB storage capacity. My personal Mac Pro, purchased from Apple in April of this year. I won't be needing more than a basic Mac for a while so I decided to sell this machine now and re-evaluate my needs later on. Specs: 8 cores (2 4-core Xeon CPUs) at 2.8GHz 10GB memory Apple RAID card 3TB storage (4 750GB Seagate enterprise-grade SATA HDs) ATI Radeon HD 2600 XT (256MB) Leopard Single SuperDrive Bluetooth (I think that's standard now) No AirPort I bought the machine from Apple with 2GB memory, a 320GB hard disk and of course the Apple RAID controller. To the memory, I added 8GB (PC6400 DDR2 ECC 800MHz FB-DIMM) purchased from Other World Computing (certified for Mac Pro, has performed flawlessly). I removed the hard disk and added 4 Seagate ST375640NS enterprise-grade 750GB hard disks. No issues at all with the RAID controller or disks. I configured the hard disks in a RAID 5 configuration, yielding approx 3 x 750GB of usable space but if you care more about speed than data protection, you could configure the disks in a RAID 0 (striped) configuration yielding approx 4 x 750GB (3TB) of very fast storage. [Keep in mind that the computer always shows less than these approx numbers due to how GB and TB are defined by the hard drive makers vs. in the operating system. But if you're buying this system, you probably already know about that.] These hard drives are from Seagate's enterprise grade line (called ES). They are designed to be left running all the time (as in a server) if desired. They are a higher grade of drive (and more expensive) than the normal desktop drives. The computer is in excellent shape, no cosmetic damage or scratches. It has never performed anything short of perfectly. Never a lockup or any unexplained behavior. It comes in the original box with everything it came with. I am including the original 320GB hard disk as well (not installed since it won't fit with the 750GB ones installed). The computer is of course still under warranty, having been purchased in early April this year. If you wish to purchase AppleCare to extend the warranty to a total of 3 years, you may do that any time before April 2009 (the one-year anniversary of the purchase). The hard disks are under warranty through Seagate until 9 Feb 2012 (I checked the serial numbers on the Seagate web site). The memory is supposed to have a lifetime warranty through Other World Computing. I can't guarantee that it's transferrable, you'd have to check with them if it matters to you. The computer is $3600 new from Apple in the configuration I bought it in (2/320/RAID). This computer is every bit in as good a shape as new, and you know it's not a lemon, *and* you get 8GB more memory and 3TB more hard drive space. My standard terms and statement: 1. I am an individual, not a company. I sell on eBay only when I have bought something and now need to sell for one reason or another. I have over 190 feedbacks, all positive. You can trust me, please read the comments others have left. I am responsive to email questions, ship quickly, and pack well. 2. I only sell to the USA because I prefer not to have to hassle with customs and international shipping. 3. I only accept PayPal payments. If the item is expensive, please be sure PayPal will let you send that much money. Some accounts are more limited than others, so you should check with them first before buying. 4. I pack my own items very well and try to keep the shipping charges realistic (free in this case). Thanks very much for your interest in my sale. I'd be happy to answer any questions by email.
